Position Title: SOUS CHEF II - Commack, NY
Reports To: Executive Sous Chef
Salary: $75,000-$80,000/yr.

As the Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the successful operation of the Culinary Department for an outstanding, vibrant independent senior living facility in Commack, NY. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to build outstanding dining experiences while working in an encouraging and collaborative environment. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment. You may supervise hourly associates and work with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists the Executive Sous Chef with handling cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account
- Assists the Executive Sous Chef with planning and crafting menus
- Produces and completes catering events
- Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team
- Ensures all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and safety
- Trains and mentor's kitchen staff to achieve flawless performance
Preferred Qualifications:
- A.S. or equivalent experience
- Some dynamic culinary/kitchen management experience, depending upon formal degree or training
- Catering experience, a plus
- Prior experience in independent senior living preferred
- Experience in managing fast-paced, intricate foodservice operations - helpful
- Institutional and batch cooking experiences useful
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- Must be experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, E-mail, and the Internet
- Must be willing to participate in client happiness programs/activities
- ServSafe certified
