What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child and Adolescent Group Therapist position at Compass Health Center?
Compass Health Center is seeking a Group Therapist to flex between our Under 18 programs. As a group therapist, you will spend the majority of your time with our patients facilitating evidenced based groups using modalities like CBT, DBT, and ACT. Our location in Northbrook is our first and largest facility, and consists not only of our widest variety of programs, but also serves as a pilot site for many of our new treatment offerings.
What You'll Do:
- Lead group therapy sessions teaching DBT, CBT, and ACT skills to patients age 8-18.
- Collect and document outcome measures for patients (ex. GAD-7, PHQ-9)
- Assessing patients on daily basis for safety, ADLs, and mental status
- Provide individual and milieu-based exposure therapy
- Relaying relevant clinical information from group sessions to treatment team during team meetings and as needed
- Communicate with patients’ family members or support system, as needed
- Provide insurance utilization team with updates
- Chart progress of patients daily
- Attend training for Exposure Response Prevention Therapy
- Developing effective therapeutic group relationships that promote positive change in patients
- Providing safety checks with safety plan as needed
- Developing creative program material and curriculum and adjusting group therapy content, as needed, to fit group needs
- Organizing and maintaining clinical group material to provide structure to curriculum
- Tracking frequency of skills taught in program to ensure full breadth of CBT/DBT skills are provided
- Documenting therapeutic processes, as well as all other relevant clinical information
- Communicating patient progress, interaction, and presentation to clinical staff
- Collaborating with co-workers to ensure quality and consistent delivery of group therapy
- Engaging in milieu management that leads to a safe and therapeutic environment
- Participating in professional development activities
- Other duties, as assigned
Who You Are:
- Master’s in Social Work/Clinical Counseling or other relevant Master’s/Doctoral programs
- Hold or be eligible for one of the following licensures: LSW, LPC, LCSW, LCPC, MSW, AMFT, LMFT, PsyD, or PhD
- 1 year of post-Master’s clinical experience, or a relevant master’s level internship
- Possess a core skill set of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Looking to gain experience on a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience with patients in crisis, and a strong passion for working within high acuity environments Preferred
