This position is critical in providing both direct and indirect patient care in a psychiatric environment, maintaining the highest standards of Professional Nursing Practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care including health assessments, pain evaluations, vital signs monitoring, and daily care of patients at the Crisis Stabilization Center.
- Administer medications, including overseeing medication self-administration and injections.
- Manage medication records accurately by completing and updating the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and counting controlled substances.
- Collaborate with team members including physicians, psychiatrists, and families to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Document and report any observable changes in patients' behavioral, emotional, and physical states.
- Assist in various diagnostic and treatment procedures while providing educational support to new staff members.
- Engage in team and leadership meetings to foster collaborative care strategies.
- Provide direct patient care to adults in crisis, which may involve working with individuals exhibiting agitation or distress.
- Participate in mandatory overtime as required.
- Proficient verbal, written, and nonverbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational capabilities and emotional resilience to navigate multiple challenges.
- Ability to educate patients effectively on health matters and medication usage.
- Experience working with patients in various emotional states.
- An Associate's degree in nursing is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of psychiatric nursing experience is required, with preference for those who have worked in acute care settings.
- Current licensure as an LPN, RN, or GPN/GN, with the expectation to pass the MO NCLEX exam within 90 days of graduation.
