Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care including health and pain assessments, vital sign checks, applying dressings, and general daily care for patients at the Crisis Stabilization Center.
- Administer medications, which includes medication passes, injections, and overseeing self-administration by patients.
- Manage the medication administration record (MAR), ensuring accurate documentation and inventory of controlled substances.
- Educate patients on their physical health and medication regimens.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including staff, residents, families, physicians, psychiatrists, hospitals, and pharmacies, to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Monitor and document observable changes in patients’ behaviors, attitudes, and physical conditions.
- Support staff during various diagnostic and treatment procedures.
- Provide orientation and training on procedures and protocols to new employees.
- Participate in team and leadership meetings as required.
- Offer direct patient care, including to those who may exhibit verbal or physical agitation.
- Be available for mandatory overtime as necessary.
- Effective verbal, written, and nonverbal communication abilities.
- Strong cognitive, organizational, and emotional skills to manage multiple stressors and deadlines.
- Direct patient care experience, particularly with adult populations.
- Proficiency in medication administration and patient education.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- A Practical Nursing Certificate or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is mandatory.
- Current licensure/certification as an LPN, RN, or GPN/GN, with the requirement to pass the MO NCLEX exam within 90 days of graduation.
