About Compass:
Founded in 2020, Compass Infrastructure Group offers civil engineering design and project management services, specializing in bridge and highway design, safety studies, inspections, constructability, and other transportation related services. Compass has grown to over 42 employees and works as a consultant for transportation projects primarily with public clients including ODOT and local governments throughout Ohio. As a result of this success, we have worked on over 100 transportation projects in four years and have developed a steady backlog of diverse and exciting transportation projects.
Job Description:
The selected candidate for this position will participate in the planning and design on transportation related projects. The primary duties will be to support senior engineers in a variety of tasks in bridge design.
Primary Technical Responsibilities will include:
• Perform structural design calculations and bridge hydraulic design
• Participate in bridge inspections, rehabilitation, and load rating
• Preparation of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Ensure quality by implementing Compass’s quality control procedures
• Learn new skills under the direction of senior engineers
What You Bring:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification required
• 4 years of related experience
• ODOT Level 1 Bridge Design Prequalificaiton is a plus
• Proven hands on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects including preparing design calculations, load ratings, reports, estimates, and plan packages
• Knowledge of engineering software packages such as: OpenBridge Designer, MDX, AASHTOWare BrR, LPile, HEC-RAS, Open Roads Designer (ORD) and/or AutoCAD, and more. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Detail oriented person capable of leading bridge tasks and leading other bridge staff
• Willingness to mentor less experienced staff
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle multiple assignments
• Desire for continued career growth
