Summary/Objective
Every time the laboratory tests a specimen, it generates a bill for payment against the requested laboratory testing. These bills are vital for reimbursement of laboratory services. There is a systematic procedure designed to manage the bills in conjunction with the outside billing company which begins with completion of testing until the payment of bills. The billing specialist assists with managing the efficiency of the billing system. The Billing Specialist is responsible for invalid billing information, and outside billing contact.

1.Ensure all claims are submitted without errors by preparing affidavit documents and coordinating completion with clinics and account representatives.
2.Communicate with the billing company to resolve billing issues.
3.Simplify the billing procedures to facilitate fast and effective processing of the bills
4.Develop processes/workflows that optimize time and resources to improve effectiveness of the system
5.Receive feedback on the billing systems from the organizational heads and work on the suggestions
6.Reconcile the billing status with the invalid billing data
7.Perform other duties as directed by Management
8.Ensures confidentiality in billing procedures.
9.Obtain medical records or other requested information as requested by insurance companies.
10.Serve as billing liaison for medical, technical, and support services.
11.Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.

Required Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma.
2. Prior experience as a billing clerk or billing supervisor.
