Summary
This position will provide functional support to the Lyons Evaporator Plant located in Lyons, KS. The position will provide support in the areas of Environment Health, Safety, Training and Worker’s Compensation Administration.
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

- Working with Plant Manager, establish/maintain a culture of safety excellence at the site. This includes stewardship of programs such as Top Risk mitigation, Hearts and Minds, and the CMP H&S Management System Performance Standards.
- Active field leadership and presence.
- Active member of Lyons site leadership team.
- Development and Implementation of EHS policy and procedures
- Maintain injury and illness records and reports
- Develop and conduct raining programs for salaried and hourly workforce
- Conduct Industrial Hygiene surveys; develop and implement action plans as required.
- Conduct EHS Audits, recommending and assisting in the correction of Hazards Identified
- Responsible for assuring an effective site Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Administer the medical management program for injured employees.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
- Report required information to regulatory agencies and the corporate office.
- Direct and maintenance of worker’s compensation, training, industrial hygiene and safety records.
- Active participation in Compass Minerals EHS&S team/network
- Assist VP-EHS&S in providing leadership and oversight to team members at identified smaller locations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field, or equivalent work experience in a EH&S position in a manufacturing environment required.
- 5 years related experience in a manufacturing plant or regulatory experience required.
- Work experience in industrial hygiene, behavioral based safety management systems is preferred.
- The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in the design, set-up, implementation and continuous improvement of safety management systems such as lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, electrical safe practices, fall protection, etc.
