Job description
The accounting clerk will perform a variety of tasks primarily in Accounts Payable but will also provide support throughout the Accounting Department and Company.
As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for:
- Accounts Payable
- Review vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Enter, match and code several hundred invoices per month.
- Prepare manual and electronic payment runs
- Set up and maintain vendor records
- Troubleshoot and resolve matching or price discrepancies
- Engage Purchasing and Receiving departments to resolve issues
- Call vendors for clarification of invoicing
- Escalate issues to the Accounting Manager in a timely manner
- Respond to all vendor inquiries
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately
- General
- Prepare miscellaneous tax filings (IFTA, Sales & Use)
- Assist in maintaining/tracking certificates of insurance, tax exemption certificates, necessary state registrations, licensures, etc.
- Assist with filing and organization of the Accounting Department
- Cover the company phone system and receptionist duties as part of a rotation
- Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounting Department.

- High school diploma required. Some college preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Accounts Payable is preferred but not required
