Role Overview
The Direct Sales team will drive revenue growth and expand our presence in the State and Local Government and Utilities markets across North America. This role involves leveraging our existing reference accounts to acquire new customers for our telematics platform. Responsibilities include managing sales opportunities from lead generation to software demonstrations, preparing quotes and proposals, and facilitating order closures. This is a solution-based sales role that encompasses GPS hardware, wireless communications, GIS, and operations management software, delivering enhanced safety, efficiency, accountability, and sustainability benefits to clients. The position will require 30% travel to client sites and trade shows.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution
· Develop and implement a sales strategy targeting software sales to State and Local Government Accounts including Public Works, State DOT, First Responders, Water and Electric utilities.
· Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
· Define sales goals and strategies to achieve revenue targets.
Client & Stakeholder Management
· Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and procurement officials.
· Lead contract negotiations to align with client needs and company objectives.
· Ensure offerings align with customer needs and industry trends.
· Represent CompassCom at industry events and government meetings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Work with Product Development, Marketing, and Operations to align sales efforts.
· Support proposal and contract teams in developing competitive bids.
Qualifications
· Experience: 5 years in sales.
· Knowledge: Strong understanding of government procurement and contracts (GSA, GWACs, IDIQs).
· Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership.
· Experience with CRM, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
· Established relationships with State and Local agencies.
· Experience selling to Motorola and BK Technologies LMR customers.
· Past Law Enforcement, Public Works or DOT experience
· Managing large, complex contracts and partnerships.
