What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP)- Day Services position at Compassionate Services and Consulting?
CSC is searching for energetic, persistent, and patient Direct Support Professionals to support our adults who attend our Day Services program. You have the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives by providing much needed companionship, supports, and community opportunities, in a flexible and rewarding role.
Job Duties:
- Provide direct care and supervision to a people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community and in the day services location.
- Assist in the implementation of individual plans for individuals and behavioral plan goals.
- Assist individuals in completing living skills, money management, crafts, and community participation, hygiene routine, household cleaning, and meal preparation.
- Plan and carry out a variety of recreational activities to advance social development (museums, parks, dances, recreation center, etc.).
- Provide transportation to individuals as needed.
- Assist with medical care / hygiene care as needed (medication administration, toileting, etc.).
- Implement and document individual goals and medical tracking electronically.
Employer Expectations of Direct Support Professional:
- Direct Support Professional works all assigned schedules, including but not limited to, arriving, and departing on time, requesting time-off in advance, and notifying their supervisor of changes to their assigned work schedule
- Direct Support Professional ensures that all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Direct Support Professional ensures each individuals’ rights are protected
- Direct Support Professional treats all individuals with dignity and respect.
- Direct Support Professional will complete any training and background checks required by CSC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, day shift.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience and comfortable working with individuals with autism, behavioral needs, assistance with feeding, toileting, etc.
- Prefer one year of experience working with the developmentally disabled populations or have a human service field degree or specialized training.
- Mature & dependable individual; minimum age of 18 years.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must meet background and reference requirements.
- Reliable Vehicle with Proof of Auto Insurance.
- Clean Driving Record. No suspensions & less than three tickets in three years.
- Computer/smart phone skills sufficient to complete required documentation.
