What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Operator, Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM position at Complemar Partners?
A Packaging Operator I is responsible for performing various Packaging Operations according to Standard Operating Procedures, maintaining quality requirements. Works efficiently, has a strong work ethic and is detail oriented. Maintains excellent attendance, flexibility in job assignments, adaptability to changing business needs by continually learning and applying new skills.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for matching product(s) with part numbers or descriptions on work orders to verify accuracy of Packing Operations
- Validates products according to customer specifications ensuring correct numbers of items are in each bundle, package or order
- Places product into envelopes, boxes or other containers and fills with packing material (when specified). Closes and seals containers and labels containers (if necessary)
- Inspects wrapping on packages for conformance to company standards and carrier regulations
- Maintains neatness on pack station and surrounding area
- Constructs needed boxes of various types depending on customer specifications
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reads and adheres to all work instructions, policies, processes, and (safety) procedures
- Accountable to meet individual Productivity standards
- Maintain 5S Standards, which entails accurately and efficiently managing items in the warehouse
- Brings to the attention of Supervisor for any equipment, material issues or workplace hazards
- Keeps work area organized and clean
- Accountable to meet quality standards
- Perform any other operational duty requested or assigned by Operations Management with in safe, ethical and moral parameters
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate Machinery as needed, which is a specialization skill that needs to be developed with in 3 months in Packaging position
- Ability to learn and master skills working for multiple customers, with in the first 3 months in position
- Ability to read and interpret documents comparing product descriptions, names, shelf labels, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Intermediate interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees
- Must be willing and able to push, pull, squat, bend, and reach with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Must possess intermediate multi-tasking skills
- Introductory problem-solving skills identifying any Performance, Software, Equipment and Process opportunities to Operations Supervisor
- Must possess introductory English skills able to read, write and speak English fluently and clearly
· Must possess introductory math skills, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age, possess a High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must possess 1-year prior work experience in a warehouse and/or packaging environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Packaging Operator I is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The workplace noise level is usually moderate
