Job Summary:
The Executive Director of Nursing operates under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and plays a key role in delivering high-quality healthcare services in a freestanding emergency room (ER) setting. This position is responsible for supporting business growth, implementing effective management practices, and enhancing operational efficiency through cost-effective business systems. The Executive Director of Nursing will oversee clinical staff, assist physicians/providers, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies while maintaining a strong focus on patient-centered care. A current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas is required.
Essential Responsibilities:
Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Provide leadership and management to ensure high-quality patient care in a freestanding ER environment.
Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory requirements.
Plan and coordinate budgets for personnel, supplies, and equipment specific to freestanding ER operations.
Maintain continuous quality assessment and improvement analysis.
Monitor cost controls to ensure budget effectiveness.
Collaborate with executive teams and clinical leaders for service continuity and improvement.
Act as the primary point of contact for clinical staff and ensure seamless communication.
Participate in policy decisions impacting Nursing/Patient Care Services.
Engage with the community, education systems, and volunteer groups to enhance nursing services.
Maintain a high-pressure environment while ensuring excellent patient care and customer service.
Perform direct patient care/clinical shifts as needed.
Utilize effective time management skills and maintain a detail-oriented approach.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, EMR/EPM systems, and other necessary software.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited university; Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure: Current Texas RN Nursing License in good standing.
Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Experience:
3-5 years of management experience.
Minimum 5 years of recent emergency room experience, preferably in a freestanding ER setting.
Familiarity with emergency room practices, concepts, and procedures.
Knowledge of state regulatory guidelines and leadership principles.
Skills:
Strong leadership, managerial, and administrative abilities.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to mentor junior and tenured leaders effectively.
Strong aptitude for handling confidential information.
Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
Flexible schedule, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience as a Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager in emergency medicine, preferably in a freestanding ER.
