POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the Nursing Director, the Nursing Team Leader is responsible for managing nursing resources of a specific CCH location to ensure a high level of patient care that supports CCH mission and goals. Nursing Team Leader will have direct supervision of RN’s, LPN’s, CMA’s, and related personnel as well as indirect supervision of support staff. The Nursing Team Leader may precept students or new employees as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (A position may not be assigned all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties that will be assigned.)
· Commits to the mission and vision of CCH and consistently demonstrates our core values.
· Manages nursing staff at specific CCH location to ensure a high level of patient care that supports CCH mission and goals.
· Supervises assigned personnel; plans for training and orientation; completes performance evaluations as necessary and recommends merit increases/promotions; administers disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR and Nursing Director.
· Plans, organizes, coordinates and implements daily operations and resources to ensure quality patient care.
· Covers nursing assignments or finds appropriate coverage for changes in provider schedules, and absences.
· Serves as a resource to facilitate patient flow by assisting with prioritization of physician orders, care coordination, triage calls and prescription refills as needed.
· Ensures appropriate levels and storage of supplies, medications, and vaccines.
· Identifies and addresses individual staff training needs based on provider input and personal observation.
· Assists in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems in collaboration with the Nursing Director and management team members.
· Exercises judgment by applying professional knowledge in solving nursing problems within established policies and practices.
· Plans for and presides over site nursing team meetings.
· Promotes consistency and quality of care throughout the practice in collaboration with the nursing leadership team.
· Acts as liaison between providers and nursing team.
· Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
· Participates in research duties as required.
· Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: (These are needed to perform the work assigned.)
Knowledge of: Professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care; information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities; emergency medical procedures; common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment; computers, as well as their applications.
Skills in: Applying and modifying nursing principles, methods and techniques to provide on-going patient care; administering patient care; identifying problems and recommending solutions; oral and written communication; active listening; monitoring and assessing the performance of yourself and others; problem solving; motivate, direct, and develop members of staff.
Ability to: Work effectively with all levels of personnel including physicians, Nursing Director, team leaders and staff; be highly efficient, organized, and accurate in work; interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures; exercise considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in solving nursing problems; properly use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care; maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, staff, and the public; react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; balance multiple tasks at once; work in an environment with potential exposure to blood borne pathogens; maintain patient confidentiality; abide by HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements
Valid Nebraska RN license is required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing is preferred. CPR certification required. At least two years of outpatient experience is preferred. Some supervisory experience is preferred.
