Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our accounting department and oversee all financial activities within the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting practices, financial reporting, and managing teams in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Sage accounting software is a must, as you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including overseeing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies, as well as relevant accounting standards (GAAP).
- Oversee inventory accounting and costing processes, including work in progress (WIP) and finished goods.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, providing accurate financial projections to leadership.
- Collaborate with the finance team to prepare and analyze variance reports, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare year-end financial statements and assist with external audits.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of accounting professionals.
- Implement process improvements and ensure accounting best practices are followed within the manufacturing setting.
- Utilize Sage accounting software to manage financial transactions, generate reports, and ensure system accuracy.
- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany accounts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in Sage accounting software (Sage 50, Sage 100, or Sage Intacct) is required.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, manufacturing costing, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software tools.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of relevant tax laws and compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA certification or progress towards obtaining one is a plus.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry with an understanding of production cycles, costing, and financial reporting in a manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and business intelligence tools.
