CMI is looking for a Construction Safety Professional to oversee safety practices on large-scale construction projects. This role requires hands-on experience, technical expertise, and the ability to engage workers, supervisors, and management to maintain a strong safety culture.

Construction Safety Specialist
CMI is looking for a Construction Safety Professional to oversee safety practices on large-scale construction projects. This role requires hands-on experience, technical expertise, and the ability to engage workers, supervisors, and management to maintain a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train and mentor workers, supervisors, and project teams on safety protocols.
- Conduct site safety inspections and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead safety initiatives, including pre-task planning, audits, job safety analyses (JSAs), and permit processes.
- Develop and implement fall protection and rescue plans.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Safety Standards.
- Oversee crane and rigging operations to ensure proper procedures and safety measures.
- Provide guidance on Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) operation and safety.
- Facilitate site-specific orientations, training sessions, and toolbox talks.
- Participate in safety meetings and provide reports to management.
- Minimum 5–10 years of construction safety experience.
- Strong experience in fall protection and rescue plans.
- Expertise in crane/rigging operations and MEWP safety.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 regulations.
- Ability to assess and mitigate job site risks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for training and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or safety management software.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (must be obtained within the last 5 years).
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required.
- Active on-site presence, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working at heights.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and navigate rough terrain.
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, snow).
- Must pass a background check, drug screening and fit for duty physical
- This position requires overtime with the potential for 6 – 10 hours days per week
- Ability to work a contract position for a period of 6 months
- No relocation, travel, or per diem provided – candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance.
