About this Role
You are responsible for ensuring the safe, clean, consistent, reliable, and efficient running of Operations activities in the Triangle market (driving company vehicles, collecting, emptying, sorting, and cleaning of containers; preparing finished compost for delivery; receiving, order pulling, and inventory tracking of compostable products; facility management). You will be supervising and supporting a team (of approx. 12-15) operating Mon-Sat 6AM - 3PM. Your expected working hours are 6AM - 2PM Mon-Fri, and are expected to flex around before/after hours issues that may arise. You are the first to assist in the execution of Operational needs and the completion of administrative tasks necessary for the continued successful execution of CompostNow’s operations.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager and other Operations Supervisors to maintain and develop warehouse and/or fleet operations in your market. You will be responsible for clearly communicating responsibilities to Team Members in order to deliver great experiences for our members. You will ensure your team has the tools, supplies, and know-how to execute on service expectations. You will also be responsible for delivering timely, consistent feedback to team members on if they are meeting our expectations.
You ensure that team members remain operationally ready and you help set the tone, expectations, and culture of this team.
What You’ll Do
Team
- Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, corrective action, separation, and promotion of new team members
- Ensure team members are trained to use the systems necessary to do their job (e.g., time tracking software [Deputy], task management software, routing software, Google Sheets, and similar)
- Evaluate team member competence during training and throughout the employee journey, and regularly provide feedback both formal and informal
- Conduct weekly check-ins with team members to determine needs and opportunities for improvement
- Hold daily and weekly shift meetings to discuss safety topics, process updates, performance, and provide encouragement/recognition
- Support the rollout of new initiatives and manage associated change processes to ensure smooth implementation and adoption
- Provide routine feedback on team member performance and operational procedures to team members directly as well as Operations Manager and Leadership
Operational Readiness
- Ensure schedules are posted in a timely manner with all shifts covered
- Maintain routine cleaning and maintenance schedules of all equipment, including vehicles
- Work with shift leads to make sure all opening and closing duties are completed for the following shift
- Identify and eliminate safety hazards in accordance with established safety guidelines and implement safety procedures in processes and facilities
- Maintain facility layout and organization to meet operational needs and drive efficient workflows
- Conduct routine inventory counts and checks on products and supplies so that team members have the supplies they need to do the job
- Fill in as needed to ensure daily job duties are completed
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role involving personnel management (any industry!)
- Possession of strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to interact and make connections with others, with the goal of strengthening team dynamics
- Coordinating and organizing multiple tasks, people, and priorities
- Follow through on commitments in a timely manner and routine updates as progress is made towards completion of a task or objective
- Maintaining high attention to detail as it relates to equipment, personnel, and facilities (upkeep, cleanliness, supply, safety, organization, etc.)
- Experience developing systems and processes and finds fulfillment in improving operational efficiencies

Desired Experience & Skills
Success in this role requires attention to detail, commitment to follow through, and ability to instill a sense of support and connection among those reporting to you. We’re also looking for someone with:
- Experience with basic hydraulics and small engine equipment
- Facility management a plus
- Forklift Certification a plus
- CDL class A or B a plus
- Experience in or desire to learn delivery driving position logistics, route and schedule management, and relevant office and logistics technologies (examples: Google Suite, Fleetio, Sentix, Deputy, and similar).
- Continuous Improvement training a plus
- Full time, salaried at $65,000 per year
