JOB SUMMARY:
The Controller will be responsible for the company's accounting activities. Overseeing the accounting functions of the organization. Primarily managing accounting processes and handling budgets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains accurate and complete financial records for the company; is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the accounting software. Plans, develops and implements financial systems which adequately monitor and provide financial insight into the operations of the business. Oversees, motivates and trains accounting staff accordingly.
- Oversees the activities of the Accounts Payable, Receivables and Payroll Department ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payments, expense reports and cash control.
- Oversee the activities of the Accounts Receivable Department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc. Responsible for all billings, draws, WIP schedules, lien releases and collections.
- Prepares timely financial statements and summary financial information. Analyzes and interprets financial information pertaining to company performance and develops top-level reporting reports (summary income statements, key benchmarks, sales forecasting, etc.).
- Leads annual operating budget development and compiles the final approved budget.
- Supports other senior managers in their budget management. Identifies potential budget problems and solutions.
- Develops management policies for financial accounting functions.
- Negotiates/audit/compilation work with outside CPA firm and acts as liaison on audit, financial, tax issues, etc.
- Create a Policies and Procedures Manual for the Accounting Department.
- Maintains relationship with outside financial institutions, bankers and vendors.
- Assure the accurate and timely completion of all tax payments.
- Oversee payroll functions of the company.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred but not required
- 10 years of hands-on financial accounting experience, Construction industry preferred.
- Timberline/Sage experience
- Computer Systems conversion experience
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- A/P Specialist, A/R Specialist, Accounting Clerk, Payroll Analyst.

- Excellent time management and organizational skills, including ability to prioritize work effectively.
- Ability to work and plan collaboratively and effectively with individuals from diverse background.
