What are we looking for in an Accounts Receivable Representative?
As a member of our Finance department, the Accounts Receivable Representative works to maximize revenue by maintaining accurate financial accounts for each client. This position will serve as the primary customer service contact for insurance companies regarding benefit coverage, insurance billing, eligibility, medical necessity, authorizations, and credentialing requirements. The Accounts Receivable Representative will coordinate with clinical staff and support staff to ensure that payment requirements are communicated to clients and billing issues are resolved quickly. In order to succeed in this role, the Accounts Receivable Representative should have exceptional communication skills and attention to detail, excellent phone etiquette, and knowledge of accounting and insurance processes. Schedule is: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
Accounts Receivable Representative duties may include:
- contacting insurance companies to verify clients’ coverage, including eligibility, credentialing requirements, service restrictions, approved number of visits, and authorizations
- reviewing and processing all adjustments to client accounts, including payments, write-offs, and service charges
- completing & submitting for payment Medicare, Medicaid, & insurance claim forms and reviewing & correcting payment denials for reprocessing
- reviewing private pay and responsible party statements for accuracy, adding delinquency reminders, and sending undeliverable or delinquent accounts to collection
- working closely with support staff and clinical staff to provide timely, accurate information to assist with billing and customer service issues
- following up with utilization review teams on any denials that include medical necessity issues, diagnosis restrictions, or authorization limitations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of related experience in billing or accounts receivable, preferably in the healthcare field
- Must have valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance
