What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Assistant/Specialist position at Comprehensive Payroll Company?
Comprehensive Payroll Company is a third party payroll provider seeking an immediate full-time payroll assistant to train to take over a payroll specialist role. This can be an entry level position, or great for someone with payroll experience to transition in to the payroll specialist role.
The role will begin with the following duties:
- Answering phones and greet any clients or visitors to the office
- Assisting with email inquiries/issues
- Ensuring confidentiality of all data
- Data entry
- Scanning and filing of documents
- Assisting payroll processors or payroll support reps in day to day activities
- Packaging payrolls for delivery
- Training on payroll processing
- Other duties as assigned
Upon completion of training, the payroll specialist job duties will include:
- All of the above mentioned responsibilities
- Compiling payroll data, and entering data, along with reconciling errors, to maintain payroll records, using computer or calculator.
- Start to finish payroll processing for designated client list
- Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
- Preparing periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions as needed.
- Working with various time systems and imports
- Learning how to troubleshoot more complex payroll issues
- Assisting in set up of add on services such as leave accruals, exports, reporting, etc.
- Preparing and print paychecks.
- Maintaining excellent customer service, and professionalism with all staff and clients.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements Include:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Previous Office Experience
- Must be a self starter, reliable, willing to grow with the company, a great people person, and very detail oriented.
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

Pay for this position is $18/hour to start.
