Position Overview:
We are seeking a Business Analyst (BA) to join a collaborative Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) team. The BA will support the Member and Managed Care and Reference functional areas, assisting in the development, testing, and implementation of projects that align with Medicaid program objectives.
The ideal candidate should have expertise in health plan management, operational concepts, and the system development lifecycle (SDLC). Preference will be given to candidates with Medicaid systems experience, claims knowledge, and a strong business understanding of the program. The BA must ensure that system development and testing efforts meet business and regulatory requirements.
This role requires working independently, collaboratively within a team, and with business stakeholders, making strong communication and documentation skills essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and participate in joint application design sessions with stakeholders.
Develop test strategies, scenarios, and cases, ensuring alignment with written requirements.
Execute and review test runs, providing sign-offs on testing components.
Document requirements and support their development and testing.
Assist in the creation of end-user training materials and documentation.
Provide oversight during system stabilization, monitoring changes, identifying issues, and supporting resolution strategies.
Work with vendors to ensure business requirements are fully defined and tested.
Communicate updates and changes to impacted stakeholders.
Represent MMIS in business meetings as needed.
Support program staff, vendors, and other stakeholders with MMIS-related inquiries.
Provide backup support to other Business Analysts as needed.
Perform data queries and analysis.
Qualifications:
Strong business analysis skills to support all stages of the system project lifecycle.
Competency in HIPAA claims and payment transaction processing.
Proficiency in SQL and strong data analysis skills.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with project managers, developers, analysts, business users, and external representatives.
Ability to work independently and within project teams, providing relevant system analysis services.
Strong analytical mindset, capable of independently identifying, documenting, and recommending solutions.
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor s degree or higher in Business, IT, or Healthcare Administration.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a large healthcare setting.
