Job Description:
The Senior UX Designer will be responsible for creating a positive and productive end-user experience for applications and websites while maintaining a user-centric focus throughout product development. This role involves leading UX/UI design efforts, ensuring that design decisions align with agency-wide standards and industry best practices.
The Senior UX and Product Design Lead will help improve education technology integration and support parents, teachers, schools, and district leaders in enhancing student outcomes. They will work with minimal supervision and have significant decision-making latitude to ensure successful technology deployments that align with user needs and industry trends.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing UX/UI designs to ensure best practices and agency-wide design standards are followed.
Translating user research into user stories, requirements, flows, wireframes, and prototypes to collaborate on future product roadmaps.
Conducting user testing and outreach to ensure products meet end-user needs.
Partnering with product teams and key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to develop design solutions.
Collaborating with internal and external teams of product designers, developers, and product managers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
8 years of experience in software product development, digital design, UX/UI, or a related field.
8 years of experience designing mockups and wireframes that adhere to UX best practices.
8 years of experience with user research, visual design, and usability studies (demonstrated through a professional portfolio).
8 years of experience conducting user and usability research.
5 years of strong writing and organizational skills.
5 years of strong communication and facilitation skills.
4 years of direct experience leading large-scale UX/UI efforts.
4 years of experience developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes in Figma or similar design software.
3 years of experience ensuring designs and websites comply with federal accessibility guidelines.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
3 years of experience working with Atlassian Jira for issue tracking.
2 years of experience working for or closely with a state or local education agency.
