Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Operator/Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of food and beverage products by meticulously monitoring raw materials, in-process mixes, and finished products. This position requires an individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate laboratory and production equipment effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality assurance checks on raw materials, in-process mixes, and finished products.
- Conduct analytical and physical testing of raw materials using laboratory equipment.
- Operate and monitor production lines to ensure efficiency and compliance with specifications.
- Collect and test product samples in accordance with USDA requirements (once certified).
- Document and enter sample results into computer systems for reporting and analysis.
- Remove or adjust materials and products to maintain proper workflow.
- Perform tests and use specialized equipment to confirm product and packaging quality.
- Analyze test data and collaborate with operations to resolve any quality concerns.
- Calibrate and verify lab equipment regularly to maintain accurate testing standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following sanitation and housekeeping procedures.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Keep accurate records of all tests performed and results obtained.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in quality control, lab testing, or audit compliance.
- Experience using testing instruments such as Carbo QC, HPLC, and Densitometers.
- Familiarity with SOPs and calibration of laboratory instruments.
- Preferred experience with microbiology, water treatment systems, cooling/ammonia systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Background in sensory testing, food safety (AIB certification), and basic chemistry (e.g., titration, pH testing, dosing).
Skills:
- Strong communication (written, verbal, and email).
- Proficiency in computer applications and data entry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and stretch for extended periods.
- Repeatedly lift and carry cases weighing 20-40 lbs during shifts.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with prolonged standing and handling of product samples.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and a hairnet as required.
