Job Summary :
The Analytical Support Technician will work within Client Analytical Sciences Laboratories, supporting the elemental analysis (ICP / ICPMS) and separation MS (GPC / GC / LC / IC) teams. This role involves sample preparation, data acquisition, instrument operation and maintenance, and laboratory support activities. The candidate will work under the direction of technical staff to provide analytical support for research and development, technical service and development, and manufacturing needs.
Key Responsibilities :
• Prepare samples, reagents, and standards for elemental analysis (ICP / ICPMS) and separation MS (GPC / GC / LC / IC) using standard procedures (wet chemistry, microwave digestion).
• Acquire data and assess basic data quality for ongoing analyses.
• Operate and maintain ICP, GPC, GC, and LC instruments as part of routine laboratory operations.
• Dispose of lab waste and perform lab maintenance according to set protocols.
• Clean and restock laboratory areas as needed.
• Purchase routine laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Retrieve, move, and connect / disconnect cylinders for analysis purposes.
• Work safely, adhering to safety protocols, and foster a safety culture within the laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications :
• B.S. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent knowledge acquired through on-the-job training.
• Skills in sample preparation and experience with a variety of lab equipment in a chemical laboratory setting.
• Hands-on experience with elemental analysis sample preparation methods such as acid digestion (including use of HF) and microwave-assisted digestions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Strong ability to work effectively with a team under tight timelines and conflicting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications :
• Prior experience in ICP / ICPMS and GPC / LC / GC / MS is highly preferred but not required.
• Prior experience in an industrial analytical laboratory is a plus.
• Ability to work well with others and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
