Job Title: Polymer Laboratory Technician
Job Location: 26701 Telegraph Rd, Southfield, MI 48033 United States
Estimated Duration: 6 Months 8days
Pay Rate : $27/Hourly on w-2
Worker Schedule : 8AM-4.30PM
QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. (Chemistry), B.S. (Chemical Engineering) is preferred. Will consider candidates without the degree who have a minimum of 2 years' experience with polymer resin synthesis and organic reactions. KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: * Knowledge of organic reactions * Chemistry lab experience - Freshman and Organic Chemistry Lab * Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Powerpoint * Excellent Verbal and Written communication * Must be capable of working in a structured environment where activities are governed by written procedures. * Must have a strong sense of work ethic and self-motivation. Must operate with a high sense of urgency.
Responsibilities: * Execute routine, complex or novel assignments requiring the synthesis and development of new or improved polymers (resins) or manufacturing techniques and procedures under the supervision of an experienced polymer resin chemist. * Setup and perform organic reactions. * Operation of laboratory scale solvent and water phase polymerization reactors. * Evaluate new raw material sources and new raw materials in existing Polymer resin recipes. * Measuring physical properties of specimens using viscometers, particle size analyzers, rheometers and other instruments. * Maintaining neat and organized lab common spaces including project files. * Work on multiple projects simultaneously. * Timely entering, updating and closing projects in a database. * Always maintains a safe and clean work environment. * Commits to building polymer knowledge through a variety of training opportunities. * Communicating interim and final results in appropriate detail via written reports, emails, phone calls.
Comments/Special Instruction Looking for a degreed candidate with a BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
