Title: Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Department: Academics

Reports to: VP of Academics

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

General Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction is to provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the educational curriculum and instructional strategies across all CSI programs that meet the needs of the student body. The Director collaborates with internal and external business partners to promote a cohesive and effective learning environment. Additionally, the Director is responsible for designing and coordinating professional development programs for Faculty and fostering innovative teaching practices that enhance student learning and achievement.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

- Hybrid Programming

  • Serve as L1 on the conversion of the on-campus academic programs to the hybrid learning environment.
  • Research and establish relationships with vendors and other external business partners to facilitate the transition from an on-campus to a hybrid modality.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate curricular elements including course structure, syllabi, assessments, learning activities, instructional materials, and resources for all CSI academic programs tailored to multiple modalities on an ongoing basis.
  • Design the framework for the asynchronous learning environment that includes the overall structure, method of calculating time on task, as well as mechanisms to monitor student work and engagement with curriculum.
  • Research and execute the integration of varied instructional technology into the teaching process for in-person, synchronous online, and asynchronous online learning environments.
  • Design and deliver training sessions to faculty and Academic team on the design, implementation, and evaluation of in-person and hybrid (face-to-face and online) curricula.

- New Program Development:

  • Serve as a resource to the Director of Academics in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the new academic programs.
  • Serve as a resource to the Director of Academics in the textbook selection and adoption process for new and existing programs.
  • Serve as a resource to the Director of Academics in preparing curricular documentation for the New Programs of Study Applications to be submitted to regulatory bodies.
  • Keep informed about current research and trends in adult education and integrate innovative practices into the curriculum.

- Curriculum Review and Evaluation:

  • Serve as a resource to the Director of Academics in the Curriculum Review Committee.
  • Oversee the preparation of curricular documentation for the Program Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and academic programs through regular review of student achievement data and feedback from students and faculty.
  • Implement changes and improvements based on evaluation results and emerging educational trends.
  • Curriculum Documentation:
  • Ensure CSI academic programs and relevant documentation meet institutional standards, accreditation, and regulatory (IBHE/DOL) requirements while aligning with CSI strategic goals.
  • Manage, maintain, and revise all relevant curricula documentation on a timely basis.

 

- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, curriculum and instruction, teaching, or other related field is required.

Master’s degree preferred and two years of managerial experience preferably in an academic setting.

Minimum 3 - 5 years of curriculum design experience, preferably in a higher education setting.

Supervisory: This is a supervisory position with direct oversight of the following positions:

  • Curriculum Coordinator
  • LMS Administrator
  • Instructional Designer

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills:

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Equipment/Computer Skills: Incumbent must be able to use the following equipment and software packages with proficiency:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • SMS
  • GradPro

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
