What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Information Technology (IT) Specialist position at Computer TR, Inc.?
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for providing Information Technical support and solutions to residential and business clients within Central WI. This individual will serve as a contact within and out of the office for existing and new customers seeking IT assistance. The ideal candidate will possess the basic troubleshooting skills, networking experience, and organizational skills required to manage customer service tickets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides technical assistance to the existing and new customer base, either by phone, email, remotely or in person.
- Regularly perform cabling and equipment installation for phone networking, camera/surveillance/security, and server systems.
- Create effective documents that are clear, accurate, and appropriately detailed.
- Install, upgrade, support, and troubleshooting printers, and computer hardware.
- Performs general preventative maintenance tasks on computers, laptops, and printers.
- Performs remedial repairs on Desktops, laptops, printers, and any other serviceable equipment.
- Work with vendors to remediate complex issues as needed.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Information Technology (IT)
Or
- Minimum of 2 years of equivalent work-related experience in an IT role
Experience:
- Familiarity with imagining laptops/desktops, including fresh installs, installing drivers, and patching
- Cloning of mechanical drives to SSD
- Malware & Virus removal and cleanup of browsers, etc.
- Replacement of hardware components on laptops/desktops ex: power supplies, video cards, screens, and NIC cards
Skills/Abilities:
- Basic computer troubleshooting, organizational, and networking skills are required
- Good interpersonal skills and is able to build solid relationships
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and critical-thinking skills
- Self-motivated and willing to learn, as well as always find the solution
- Able to work in a fast pace and changing environment
The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively communicate with residential and business users needing IT-related solutions. They will also have the knowledge and skillset to correct minor problems and assist the end user with how to operate software more efficiently.
Additional job requirements:
- A Valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive to customer locations when necessary.
- The ability to pass a background check.

In 2012 the business became established as an Incorporation and in 2014 with the organization’s continued growth and success Computer TR expanded into its storefront location located off Hwy 13 in Abbotsford, WI.
