SUMMARY
The Master Scheduler is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Master Production Schedule (MPS). The MPS establishes the required production build for the monthly / annual revenue plan as well as establishing the projected forecast demand in the ERP system to ensure sufficient inventory to meet production requirements. An advanced level of material planning, manufacturing process, and ERP knowledge is required, and a knowledge of the procurement environment is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide expertise and tactical leadership within the business' SIOP process. Evaluate opportunities to improve this process and further optimize Comtech's business processes related to forecasting, planning / scheduling, and procurement.
- Act as a focal point between Sales, Marketing and Operations to ensure configured system orders are scheduled to meet customer demand, manufacturing cell capacity and free of any discrepancies.
- Responsible for the creation and continuous update of the MPS that satisfies customer demand, maintains stability in terms of material and capacity requirements, and minimizes Raw and Finished Goods inventory levels.
- Review the business' forecast demand. Work with Sales and Purchasing to confirm appropriate lead time considerations to ensure appropriate incoming material to fulfill orders.
- Evaluate ongoing impact of "performance to forecast" on inventory levels for the current month and implement any necessary changes to the MPS. Assess the impact to capacity, inventory levels, and purchase orders that result from any proposed major changes.
- Interface with Product Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Planning to ensure smooth transition of new products, prototypes, and components into the master schedule.
- Evaluate End of Life product transition to recommend correct inventory disposition(s).
