What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supported Employment Specialist position at Concerned Inc?
We are seeking experienced Employment Specialists to join our team. As an Employment Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting individuals with developmental disabilities and autism in finding and maintaining employment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others and help them achieve their career goals. The hours for this position vary to accommodate to our members' schedules. This includes during the day and evening hours. As well as every other weekend and holiday.
Some of the duties for this position, but not limited to:
- Work closely with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism to assess their skills, interests, and goals
- Develop individualized employment plans and strategies
- Provide job coaching and support to individuals during the job search process
- Collaborate with employers to identify job opportunities and negotiate employment terms
- Conduct job readiness training, including resume writing, interview skills, and workplace etiquette
- Assist individuals in completing job applications and preparing for interviews
- Provide ongoing support to individuals once they are employed, including mentoring and problem-solving
- Stay up-to-date on employment labor laws and regulations
-Complete daily documentation on each member for time providing services.
-Transport our members to and from their community jobs.
-Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older to apply.
-Must have a valid state of Iowa drivers license to apply and provide proof of auto insurance coverage. Able to obtain a Class D Chauffeurs license upon hire.
-Must have a high school diploma or equivalent to apply. Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is required (a minimum of 6 months)
- Knowledge of employment labor laws and regulations
- Experience in mentoring or counseling individuals with addiction or other challenges is a plus
- Strong ability to educate and train individuals on job readiness skills
- Familiarity with recruiting strategies and techniques
- Experience in workforce development or social work is preferred
