Concord Academy, an independent college preparatory school for grades 9 through 12 located in Concord, Massachusetts, has a full-time opening in its English Department for the 2025–26 academic year. The position will entail teaching two sections of a year-long course (9th- or 10th-Grade English) and two semester-long electives each term.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in teaching English literature, a genuine enthusiasm for working with adolescents, and a commitment to professional and personal growth. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt instruction easefully across multiple genres of literature (poetry, drama, fiction, nonfiction) and time periods (classical to contemporary).
We ask applicants to view the course descriptions for 9th- and 10th-Grade English, the Writing Seminar, and the advanced elective, “Whose Story Is This?”. We ask applicants to articulate how they would facilitate the development of an informed, analytical, and persuasive writing style in these courses, with close attention to grammar, and how they would foster a discussion-based environment where students can engage ideas with care and nuance, and think critically across competing perspectives. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive pedagogy and a clear understanding of the school’s mission.
