What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Social Work Faculty/ Mental Health Counselor position at Concord University?
The Clinical Social Work Faculty is responsible for assisting the Director of the Concord University Counseling Center with the administration of the Center and with teaching responsibilities within the Department of Social Work and Sociology. The position is a 11-month, full-time, non-tenure track renewable position that reports to the Director of the Counseling Center (Student Affairs) and the Chair of the Department of Social Work and Sociology.
This position is on-campus and requires regular on-site attendance. Under the supervision of the Director of the Counseling Center, the Clinical Counsellor’s responsibilities in the Center include effective and ethical student services; policy, procedure, and assessment based on University/Department; organizing and conducting proactive outreach and education focused on student mental health, evidence-based services, and clinical effectiveness assessment.
In regard to faculty accountability, the position will teach at least two courses a year which might include oversight of practicum activities at the Center. Other duties include service to the profession, community, and institution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides consultation, performs program/project administration, conduct information research and analysis, and raises awareness of the Counseling Center
- Provides individual and group mental health counseling/therapy and crisis intervention to students, both traditional and non-traditional aged; provides career and academic guidance; conducts risk and other assessments, as appropriate; refers to other providers and services, as necessary
- Provides institutional guidance on mental health concerns and other student-focused issues
- Ensures compliance with institutional policies, state & federal laws, and professional standards and industry standards
- Engages in academic duties in the Social Work program in regard to teaching, service, and program design.

General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain files, documentation, intake and written reports and maintains confidential materials in a secure and industry-standard manner, complying with HIPAA and FERPA
- Develop, update, and deliver education programs for campus community, including the following prevention resources: alcohol/substance abuse, suicide, sexual violence (including assault, domestic abuse, stalking, and harassment), bystander intervention, wellness & safety, and other relevant topics
- Coordinate and conduct assessments, including developing necessary in-house inventories, on relevant topics (e.g., ACHA/NCHA, Campus Experience Survey, etc.), program effectiveness
- Attend and represent Concord University on appropriate campus, local, state, and national committees and organizations
- Prepare and publish written and electronic publications around mental health and relevant student and campus holistic wellness topics and Counseling Center services
- Assess and improve distance mental health opportunities for our on-line programs
- Provide instruction for at least two courses a year (no more than 1/semester)
- Service to the profession, community, and institution

Master's
Required Licenses/Certification
Must possess an LGSW, however Independent Licensure is preferred. Master of Social Work.
