Position Purpose:
This position serves as a member of the Admissions team in the department of Undergraduate Admission. This position is primarily responsible for developing and managing top of the funnel recruitment strategies for performance students and enrolling students who are seeking to participate in performance at Concordia, specifically in the areas of Art, Music, and Theatre (additional populations and territories may be assigned as needed). This position will collaborate with multiple departments, off-campus entities, and influencers to recruit and enroll new students at Concordia in support of campus enrollment goals. This is a full-time position with full-time benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Recruits prospective students who identify as performance in the areas of Art, Music, and Theatre, exceeding goals when opportunities exist (additional populations and territories may be assigned as needed).
- Liaison to Art, Music, and Theatre, working closely with leads on recruitment initiatives, communication, and events. Meets regularly with performance leads in these areas on funnel (including inquiries, applications, and offers).
- Collaborates with departments, faculty, and staff on performance event planning and execution (both on and off campus), with focus given to creating opportunities for current and future recruitment.
- Manages registration and coverage at off-campus events that cater to performance students and influencers (ex. Nebraska Music Education Association); this will include collaboration with other partners in ministry including performance faculty.
- Creates/updates reports on recruitment competition in performance areas, specifically, financial aid opportunities from other Concordia University System and GPAC schools.
- Builds out new and continued communications to performance recruits; this would include print pieces specific to performance and collaboration with Marketing on performance messaging and webpages.
- Manages personal communications from all invested parties to performance students (counselors, faculty, etc.) and should include multiple communication channels (email, phone, print, text, social media, etc.).
- Collaborates on communication to influencers (ex. LCMS and NE high school teachers) to create awareness, branding, and enrollments from performance populations.
- Individualizes admission presentations to visitors during campus visits and at on-campus events. Is familiar with all performance offerings and the institutional philosophy of recruitment.
- Advises students and families of admission requirements and/or transfer guidelines.
- Collaborates with Financial Aid regarding student expected family contribution/student aid index to determine federal and institutional financial resources available to meet the needs of the student.
- Oversees student financial aid worksheet process and submits to Financial Aid prior to mailing of Financial Aid Offer. Understands and communicates financial aid packages to new students effectively and accurately.
- Is available and accessible to incoming recruited students and their parents to ease the transition from home to campus life; provides follow-up to students and parents via phone, letters, e-mail and scheduling of appointments.
- Develops and analyzes data of past productivity with recruitment projections and personal schedules in order to plan a strategy of visiting and cultivating other sources for recruiting students.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgement in evaluating program effectiveness, assessing outcomes and developing improved programming, showing flexibility in the achievement of goals for programs/events.
- Hires and manages student workforce to initiate communication such as phone calls, e-mails and letters to prospective students in managed territory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education-
- Undergraduate degree with liberal arts background, preferably in a fine arts/performance major.
Experience-
- Student recruitment or related experience preferred.
- Collegiate performance extracurriculars in Art, Drama, and/or Music is preferred.
Specialized Knowledge-
- Knowledge of SCT Banner software preferred.
- Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software preferred.
- Proficiency in use of software applications including Microsoft applications, databases, spreadsheets and word processing required.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Understanding of customer service principles and generational service needs.
- Ability to travel, rent vehicles, drive in large cities and fly in commercial aircrafts.
- Member of an LCMS congregation and church worker are preferred.
- Concordia University graduate preferred, with performance participation.
