Position Snapshot: The Director of Continuous Improvement will lead strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and workforce development while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Reporting directly to the VP of Business Performance, this role requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in Lean, Six Sigma, and change management, along with hands-on leadership skills and a proven track record of delivering measurable results. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, design solutions, and implement strategies that drive meaningful improvements across the organization.
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 
Develop and execute a comprehensive continuous improvement strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Analyze current processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement, and implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
Lead change initiatives and ensure adoption of new processes and practices across all levels of the organization.
Establish and monitor KPIs to measure the success of improvement initiatives and provide regular updates to executive leadership.
Build organizational capability by training employees in continuous improvement tools and techniques, fostering a culture of problem-solving and innovation.
Partner with department leaders to align improvement efforts with business objectives and ensure consistent execution.
Champion new technologies, tools, and methods to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness.
Lead (oversee) Team of CI Regional Managers regarding job duties and working towards positive company direction. 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies tailored to manufacturing and production environments.
Experience with quality management systems and operational best practices specific to concrete pipe and precast products.
Proven ability to analyze processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement effective solutions that drive measurable results.
Excellent leadership, coaching, and team-building skills to foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Skilled in project management and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency with data analysis tools and process mapping software to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
 
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
8-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on continuous improvement.
Proven expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies; Black Belt certification preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive change at all organizational levels.
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and delivering measurable results.
Experience with change management and organizational transformation.
Strong project management skills with experience leading multi-site initiatives.
 
Requirements:
Must reside in the continental U.S. within the assigned region.
Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a criminal background check.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
 
Typical Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week depending on workload and job demands. This position will require regular travel (example:  /- 3 days per week - 3 weeks per month) with overnight stays as needed.
 
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50lbs. max).
 
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a production environment with ambient air conditions, loud noise, dangerous equipment, and variable lighting. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in all production and loading areas. Office work will be performed in clean, climate-controlled areas with fluorescent lighting.
 
Compensation: Based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
