Position Snapshot: We’re looking for an experienced Professional Engineer to help us develop real-world solutions for our customers and take our designs to the next level. In this critical role, you will work closely with a team of Project Technicians. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated fast learner and innovative thinker who can drive our solutions-based business model and motivate and engage team members at every level. This position also requires outstanding interpersonal skills, a willingness to embrace change, and to be open to new ideas.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Prepare Structural Designs for non-prestressed, precast concrete structure types such as: drainage inlets, storm and sanitary manholes, box culverts, pipe end walls/retaining walls, liquid-holding tanks, dry utility vaults, and underground detention systems.
• Oversee the relevant and appropriate review and permitting processes.
• Apply technical knowledge in the development of feasibility analyses for project specifications, ensuring that all stakeholder expectations are met.
• Prepare formal correspondence to justify or explain aspects of design, production, or product repair.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, folder navigation and management, and database management software.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong familiarity with the following design criteria: LRFD bridge design, strength design, analysis of moving live loads on structures produced by vehicles, trains, aircraft, etc., soil/ structure interaction, flotation resistance, product lifting considerations, embedded plates/ anchor design, Environmental Engineering criteria, some seismic design criteria, serviceability and durability considerations, and certain stability analysis.
• Knowledge of the following structures design codes: State DOT standards and specifications, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design specifications, ACI 318-19, ACI 350-20, various ASTM product type codes (i.e., ASTM C76, ASTM C478, ASTM C507, ASTM A615/A706, ASTM C857), AREMA, and FAA structure design criteria.

• 7 years of experience as an engineer.
• Strong testing and database design capabilities.
• Strong understanding of automated/manual manufacturing processes.
• Strong focus on quality control.
• Licensure in VA, MD, WV, NC, SC, FL or GA and ability to obtain licensure in other operating states (CP&P will pay for licensure renewals and continuous education requirements).

Requirements:
• Must reside in the continental U.S. within CP&P’s company footprint (VA, WV, NC, SC, GA).
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Typical Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week depending on workload. This position may travel.
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50lbs. max).
Working Conditions: Office work will be performed in clean, climate-controlled areas, with fluorescent lighting.
