Key Responsibilities:
Primary Focus: Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization
- Monitor and analyze mainframe workload utilization and performance trends.
- Develop and maintain capacity and performance reports for system resource planning.
- Forecast future workload demands and recommend proactive system adjustments.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements to optimize mainframe resource usage.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure scalability and system reliability.
- Work closely with teams managing z/OS, z/VM, z/Linux, CICS, DB2, and MQ.
- Support initiatives that impact storage, networking, and system automation.
- Provide insights into how capacity planning affects disaster recovery, system resiliency, and workload balancing.
- Assist in performance tuning across middleware, databases, and transaction processing.
- Operating Systems: IBM z/OS, z/VM, z/Linux
- Middleware & Databases: CICS, DB2, MQ (Mainframe & Distributed)
- Storage & Capacity Planning: IBM DASD, VTS, GDPS Global Metro Mirror
- Automation & Networking: IBM System Automation, Connect:Direct, IBM PAGENT, SuperSession
- Security & Protocols: RACF, TCP/IP, SMTP, FTP, SMS, Infoprint, TLS
- 5-10 years of experience in mainframe systems engineering, with a strong focus on capacity planning.
- Proven expertise in performance monitoring, workload analysis, and system tuning.
- Experience with IBM mainframe capacity planning tools and reporting solutions.
- Strong understanding of workload balancing, system scalability, and future capacity forecasting.
- Familiarity with storage management, network performance, and automation strategies.
- Ability to analyze trends, identify bottlenecks, and recommend proactive solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
- IBM Certified Specialist – Capacity Planning & Performance Management
- ITIL Certification or relevant industry certifications
- Experience with GDPS, IBM Workload Manager (WLM), and RMF (Resource Measurement Facility)
- Work in a critical role optimizing mainframe performance and resource efficiency.
