Our investment firm client, in partnership with Conexus Recruiting, seeks a talented Senior Tax Accountant to join their Corporate Finance and Accounting Team. This role is a newly created role, reflecting a substantial increase in their Assets Under Management (AUM). The Accounting Manager reports to the CFO.

Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant
Location: near Santa Monica, CA
Job Status (direct hire, consulting, consulting with possibility of hire) – This role is a direct hire role.
Job Site Status (onsite/hybrid/remote) – Our client has a hybrid job site status of four (4) days/week in the office.
Compensation – Salary range is estimated at $110,000 to $120,000/year. A general bonus is part of the all-in compensation package, as par for the course for financial services companies (estimated all in at $135,000/year to $150,000/year. Our client offers health insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid time off (PTO).
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT
Tax (Planning and Provisions)
- Perform tax withholding analysis on income distributions to investors.
- Address investor questions on taxes.
- Ensure compliance with Tax Compliance Acts
- Prepare taxable income estimates and forecasts (provisions).
- Mitigate tax risks on all restructuring and acquisition transactions.
Tax (Filings)
- Prepare and review corporate tax returns and compliance filings, including annual 1099s and 1042s.
- Ensure tax payments and refunds within deadlines.
- File for limited partnerships, and limited liability companies.
- Review book/tax differences and partner allocations.
- Analyze equity/debt reorganizations to determine tax treatment and disclosures.
- Review market discount/original issue discount calculations for accuracy.
- Review Schedule K-1.
Tax (Compliance)
- Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations.
- Collaborate with external auditors during tax provisions audits.
Miscellaneous
- Work with the accounting team to prepare financial reports.
- Accept all relevant tasks as given by upper management.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a comparable major.
- At least five (5) years of total tax experience, of which at least three (3) years of employment at a Big 4 Accounting Firm.
Preferred
- CPA
