What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finisher/Carpentry position at Conexwest Shipping Containers?
This position deals with general construction, installing finishing components, and quality control. Your job will entail working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products. A finisher is an individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of various tools and other construction materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Install and test all final components required to complete a project.
- Finalize units for delivery including touch ups, repairs, and cleaning.
- Perform a final inspection of the exterior/interior of the unit.
- Work as a team with other Finisher team members and Finisher Lead.
- Inspect all details performed by other crews (welders, painters, etc) and report to Finisher Lead or Production Supervisor any errors observed.
- Maintain an organized work area and proper material storage.
- Able to perform last minute priorities/tasks.
- Constant communication with Production Management when scheduling issues occur with Production Software or units.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience with general construction.
- Hands-on experience in working with construction materials.
- Excellent understanding of general construction techniques and methods of installation.
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.).
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
- Ability to take accurate measurements and calculations.
- Completion of formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Good knowledge of English and basic math.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Must have a full range of physical motion as required to properly operate manual and electric power tools.
- Must have balance necessary to traverse and work on scaffolding and roofs.
- Will work in a variety of environments and weather with exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals in both indoor and outdoor construction and carpentry.
- Must be able to regularly lift and carry 50 pounds and 100 pounds occasionally.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
