We are a privately held, full-service commercial real estate firm specializing in the management, leasing, and development of retail, office, and industrial properties across Southern California. We are seeking an experienced and personable Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team in Upland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial property management accounting, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to build strong working relationships across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the accounting department, including oversight of a 12-person team (3 direct reports).
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for multiple commercial real estate entities.
- Review and approve financial reports, budgets, CAM reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy in general ledger entries, tenant billing, and rent roll reconciliation.
- Collaborate with property management and executive teams to ensure financial alignment.
- Coordinate with external auditors and CPAs for tax filings and year-end reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in commercial property management (retail, office, or industrial)
- At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience
- Proficient in Yardi, MRI, or similar property management accounting software
- Strong understanding of GAAP, CAM reconciliations, and commercial real estate accounting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused
