What are the responsibilities and job description for the Enrichment Coordinator Supervisor K-5 position at Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Comm?
Starting Wage $27.05/hr. - $34.95/hr.
Essential Functions:
- Direct supervision of K-5 staff with program development, timelines, expectations, staff supporting with performance.
- Maintains a safe environment for children.
- Coordinates with the Tribe’s Culture Department and Education Department’s Curriculum Program to implement developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum in K-5 programs.
- Provide coaching, training, technical support, and guidance with individualization, implementation, and overall planning of the adopted curriculum.
- Assists with the development and monitoring of Education Department and program goals.
- Ensure all K-5 coordinators provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces social and emotional development and educational progress.
- Ensures K-5 staff complete mandatory professional development coursework.
- Supervises, guides and evaluates K-5 program staff.
- Coordinates and leads key staff with researching and developing activities to be conducted for all Enrichment services offered.
- Coordinates and leads enrichment team to facilitate cultural-based enrichment and educational activities for K-5 Native youth for after-school, non-school days and summer programming.
- Reviews and supports K-5 staff with programming logistics developed within team on all programming and projects assigned to completion.
- Works with Administrative staff to conduct and promotes development of annual student recruitment and enrollment.
- Assists with developing department policies.
- Establishes schedules for activities to include, arts and crafts, games, homework, free time recreation, and cultural activities.
- Schedules and supervises field trips.
- Handles youth and K-5 staff discipline problems promptly and according to policy.
- Assists with annual and forecasted budgetary needs.
- Coordinates enrichment programs to connect Tribal Member K-5 students that live outside the local area.
- Develops or assists with program student applications as directed.
- Leads or assists in promoting and recruiting native students for after-school, no school days, spring break and summer enrichment activities and workshops..
- Collaborates with Tribal CTGR departments, and programs/agencies in developing and implementing enrichment activities.
- Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy environment that is conducive to learning.
- Maintains program participation and reports data requested by supervisor.
- Participates in team meeting sessions as directed.
- Ensures that all participants at Youth Enrichment Program Center follow standard rules of conduct and maintain policy requirements.
- Complies with required standards and policy.
- Ensures compliance with the Reporting standards for Child Abuse and Neglect. Follows the standard process to report cases of suspected child abuse.
- Provides resources information as needed, including mental health, adult education, social services, food bank etc.
- Provides student transportation as necessary to and from programs and off campus trips and other activities.
- Assists with conducting parent/student consultation regarding behaviors as needed.
- Provides support for other Education Department programs as needed.
- Assists with training development as needed.
- Assists in maintaining a clean facility.
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory:
- Ensures the hiring, training, promoting, assigning, disciplining of employees are in accordance with Tribal Law, including without limitation, the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO).
- Assures staff adherence to all policies and procedures, work, safety and administrative rule, Tribal Law and State Regulations.
- Serves as a mentor, as requested, for Tribal career development
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalency. A degree in the area of education or youth development preferred.
- Requires four (4) years’ experience in developing and promoting structured program services for K-5 students.
- Requires two (2) years’ Advisory/supervision experience.
- OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Driving Requirements:
- Must maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe’s vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.
Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:
- First Aid/CPR certification required or must obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Requires ongoing registration in Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR)
- Must have good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of Microsoft, and social media.
- Must have the ability to relate well with children at various age levels.
- Requires above average communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Requires the ability to relate at a professional level with parents, staff and others.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include evenings, weekends, and overnight for special program events and activities.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture is required.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
- Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
- Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds.
- This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
- Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan.
- Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
- May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
- Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
