POSITION: NASIS Home School Liaison
SALARY: $21.82 to $25.30, per hour DOE
REPORTS TO: Counselor/Dean of Students
LOCATION: Omak, WA
Basic Functions: This is a Non-Exempt position. Build working relationships with parents and community programs to support students at Paschal Sherman Indian School. Create a preventative practice to minimize attendance, behavior, and academic struggle in students of concern through parent collaboration. Communicate with administration and school board on the support provided to families/students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:
- Required to meet Washington State requirements for paraeducator OR 32 college credit in similar field of work.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Required to maintain a Washington State driver's license with no restrictions.
- Must have experience working with families and children.
- Requires submitting transcripts/proof of degree/certifications and three written letters of reference upon applying.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires flexibility and the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals is essential.
- Requires specific competencies include learning assigned duties, supervising students, modeling appropriate behavior, and effective communication.
- Requires strong computer skills and knowage with office equipment and software applications.
- Requires knowledge of Colville Confederated Tribes culture and history.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, parents, and public.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Requires excellent organizational skills, ability to learn and use NAISIS, able to document correctly and in a timely manner.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences using multiple mediums.
- Requires the ability to keeps accurate records of all family engagement activities, reports, surveys, funding, annual program evaluations, and communications to parents.
- Requires the ability to collaborate with families, teachers, student leadership and the school’s leadership team to develop a team-family school climate.
- Must be able to maintain ethical behavior in working with students, families, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school
- Must maintain confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within the scope of FERPA.
- Required to follow Tribal and State Becca Bill.
- Must pass Washington State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Colville Tribe criminal history background checks.
- Requirest the ability to physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching.
- Typically, the role involves sitting, walking, and standing.
- The work environment is generally clean and conducive to good health.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
