POSITION: Natural Resource Technician I/II

SALARY: $20.36-$23.63, per hour DOE

REPORTS TO: Creel Biologist I/II

LOCATION: Inchelium, Washington

Basic Functions: Performs tasks associated with the management of fisheries resources, including determination of presences or absence of fish, monitor environmental conditions in lakes and streams, and evaluate the effectiveness of fish stocking programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

NR Technician I

• Requires a HS Diploma or GED and satisfactory work history.
• Requires a Valid State Driver's License.

NR Technician II

• Requires a HS Diploma or GED AND 36 months of work related experience.
• Requires a Valid State Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Requires demonstrated knowledge and skill to perform the functions of the position.
• Requires knowledge of Tribal fish and wildlife codes, laws, regulations and procedures.
• Requires knowledge of standard fishery assessment techniques and biological data collection.
• Requires accurate identification of freshwater fish species of the Columbia River basin.
• Requires the ability to do basic repairs and conduct routine equipment maintenance.
• Requires the ability to efficiently use a computer daily for data entry.
• Requires the skill of attention to detail.
• Requires experience using hand and power tools, and proper care and maintenance of tools.
• Requires sufficient knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare professional correspondence.
• Requires sufficient human relations skill to work productively and cooperatively with diverse teams, exercise patience when dealing with internal and external customers, and convey technical concepts.
• Requires the ability to apply standard fisheries related laboratory and field methods to gather data.
• Requires the ability to accurately identify freshwater fish species of the Columbia River basin.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, crew and the general public.
• Requires the ability to organize and prioritize work to achieve results, goals and objectives on time.
• Requires the ability to operate equipment, including hand and power tools and sampling gear, safely and effectively.
• Requires the ability to maintain equipment.
• Requires the ability to understand and follow applicable regulations and standards to maintain a safe work environment.
• Requires the ability to effective handle adverse situations, making appropriate decisions, working calmly and accurately.
• Requires the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively.
• Requires the ability to collect, compile, and record scientific data. Requires the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment as a team member in a pleasant and efficient manner. Requires the ability to work independently and follow instructions out to completion.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
