A manufacturing company based in Erie, PA is hiring a Cost Accountant to work on-site.
The Cost Accountant will oversee costing and inventory accounting for North and South America.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain standard costs & transfer prices within our accounting systems.
- Contribute to ad hoc cost analyses for new business/new product proposals.
- Reconcile and explain monthly cost of sales, including completion of journal entries as
required.
- Ensure that month-end inventory is correctly valued at the lower of cost and net realizable
value.
- Deliver month-end inventory reporting in accordance with strict deadlines, including
inventory obsolescence.
- Ensure that controls over physical inventory levels (including counts and adjustments) are
adequate.
- Identify areas for improvement in inventory management, including preventing stockouts
and preventing overstocks.
- Take a lead role in monthly stock meetings to proactively identify inventory obsolescence
risk, and ensure appropriate action is taken to deal with “at risk” stock and have input into
inventory planning.
- Maintain Fixed Asset register and ensure all CapEx is correctly recorded.
- Ensure compliance with the accounting policies and procedures manual in all areas concerning standard costs and inventory.
- Drive consistency and efficiencies in procedures across all locations.
- Assist with other finance activities as required such as fixed asset reporting & tracking of
assets in the course of construction by project.
- Support the organization with the development of CapEx request forms and tracking ROI
for new fixed asset acquisitions.
- Perform related job duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 - 2 years of experience in standard costing and inventory accounting in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience working with non-U.S. currency is a plus.
- Excellent software skills, especially in Excel.
- CMA, CPA, or Technical Accounting Standards background preferred.
- Strong business acumen and able to grasp multiple disciplines.
- Excellent analytical skills, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong commitment to manage deadlines, prioritize workloads and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Energetic self-starter who is confident and professional.
- Willing and able to travel domestically as needed.
- Successful ability to work as part of a larger team and at times be prepared to take on work outside of the role as required helping the team meet deadlines.
