DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
The Role
We seek an action-oriented and data-driven Director of Operations for our production facility in Pennsylvania. The director will manage all aspects of production and our warehouse and logistics operations. The diverse production capabilities include organic reference materials and chemical products. This role is an onsite role based in Exton, Pennsylvania, and reports to the EVP North America.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and effective management of inventory delivery of products
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations, improve quality, and increase efficiency.
Leadership and People Management
- Provide leadership to the operations team, setting clear expectations and ensuring accountability for results.
- Coaching managers to help them build and develop their teams
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the operations team.
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the operations function in alignment with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
- Establish operational processes and procedures to ensure consistent delivery of products and services.
- Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address them.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the operations function.
- Developing and managing the operations budget, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
Warehousing and Distribution Management
- Develop and implement a warehousing and distribution strategy that supports the operations function and the organization.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels meet customer demand.
- Oversee the management of distribution channels, ensuring that products are delivered to customers on time and in the most cost-effective manner.
Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence
- Drive the development and implementation of a continuous improvement culture, drive efficiencies, improve quality, and optimize processes.
- Develop and implement programs and initiatives to support operational excellence, including process improvement, waste reduction, and value stream mapping.
- Promote a culture of problem-solving and data-driven decision-making to drive continuous improvement.
Health and Safety Management
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
- Participate in developing and implementing training programs to enhance health and safety awareness and skills.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including global production and distribution sites, Commercial teams, and regional management.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the operations function meets internal stakeholders' needs to achieve our purpose.
- Develop and implement strategies, practices, policies, and procedures to ensure that the operations function responds to external stakeholders' needs, such as customers and suppliers.
- Monitor stakeholder feedback and use it to drive continuous improvement in the operations function. Ensure that the organization meets its commitments to stakeholders and delivers on its promises.
Essential Skills and Qualifications To Be Successful
- Data-driven and process minded. Ability to define and measure the critical KPIs, and optimize operations for the day-to-day performance to meet production and financial targets.
- Collaborate with executive management in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans.
- Identify and target areas in which the business can improve operations
- Proven ability to plan and manage the operational process for maximum efficiency and productivity.
- Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of operations management experience, with senior leadership role experience.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead teams to achieve goals.
- Experience in managing information systems and technologies to support operational efficiencies.
- Knowledge of warehousing and distribution management principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
