General Responsibilities Shared with the Director of Nursing
- Advances the continued growth of the facility through identification and implementation of improvement initiatives
- Promotes a culture of continuous improvement focused on operational efficiency, patient safety, case volume, surgeon and staff satisfaction, and patient experience.
- Oversees day-to-day and future scheduling and case coordination activities
- Responsible for ongoing accreditation programs in areas of Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Infection Control, facility, and fire safety.
- Advance and maintaining the facility Safety Program
- Demonstrates complete understanding and ability to educate others on the established emergency procedures for facility
- Represents the facility during interactions with all patients, families, and visitors ensuring a positive and professional environment
- Engages as the lead point of contact and communication for vendors engaging the facility including, medical device, equipment, and supply
- Actively participates in creating, communicating, and upholding policies as required by the facility, governing and accrediting bodies.
- Responsible for the planning, preparation, ongoing maintenance, and day-of activities for accreditation
- Actively participates in the preparation and execution of Medical Executive Committee activities and meetings
- Demonstrates an understanding of the requirements and functionally of all elements of life safety within the facility
- Participates in the development of budgeting and planning including staffing, equipment, and inventory
- Demonstrates and oversees sound cost containment techniques.
- Demonstrates an understanding of Ambulatory Surgery Center revenue cycle process, reimbursement, and case costing
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, development, and opening of the new surgery center.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation requirements.
- Develop operational policies and procedures to promote efficiency and patient safety.
- Manage day-to-day operations, including staffing, scheduling, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with medical staff to establish protocols for specialty-specific procedures
- Implement quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with physicians, staff, and vendors.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an ASC Administrator, particularly in opening new centers.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with state regulations and accreditation standards in Pennsylvania.
- Licensed RN, Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Major Functions and Responsibilities:
The main function of the Administrator is that of leadership and promotion of cooperative staff effort.
The Administrator is responsible for the allocation and completion of assigned functions in daily operations. She/He interprets departmental philosophy, objectives, policy and procedure.
The Administrator will be accountable for:
- Assist surgeons through provisions of adequately prepared service team members.
- Delegation of responsibilities and duties to professional, technical, and ancillary personnel.
- Responsibility for performance evaluation of all department personnel.
- Coordination of administrative duties to ensure proper functioning of the staff.
- Coordination of the provision and control of materials, supplies, and equipment with inventory/ supply management
- Coordination of activity within the O.R. suite.
- Risk Manager Designee
- Other responsibilities or activities as determined by leadership
- Fiscal Management including budget compliance in daily assessment of services activity.
- Monitors compliance of staff members in the daily practice of nursing care.
- Communicates compliance of nursing standards to organizational leadership
- Policies and Procedures development and revision as needed
- Assigns services personnel based on levels of competency and the needs of the patient.
- Staff Development
- Actively participates in staff meetings.
- Evaluates orientation program of all new personnel.
- Monitors staff compliance with annual re-certification
Environment of Care
- Monitors service environment daily and assures surveillance of safety issues and infection control program.
- Assures staff participation and knowledge of fire and disaster safety.
- Reviews electrical safety and assures all equipment is inspected every six months.
- Reviews temperature and humidity controls and takes corrective action as necessary.
- Performance Improvement Program
- Reviews results of monthly Improvement activity and reports to staff at regular meetings.
- Communicates with and provides input to the Chief Executive Officer regarding corrective action for performance improvement deficiencies.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
