Established New York City Metro Area family-owned residential Developer/Builder has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of a property management company, including recording all income and expenses related to rental properties, managing accounts receivable (rent collection), processing accounts payable (vendor bills), reconciling bank statements, generating financial reports, and assisting property managers with budgeting and financial analysis, ensuring accurate and compliant financial records are maintained for each property under management.
Areas of Responsibilities:
Financial Data Entry:
Accurately record all financial transactions including rent payments, late fees, security deposits, maintenance costs, utility bills, and vendor invoices into accounting software.
Accounts Receivable Management:
Monitor outstanding rent balances, send reminder notices to tenants with past due payments, and initiate collection procedures for delinquent accounts
Accounts Payable Processing:
Review and approve vendor invoices, process payments, and maintain vendor records.
Bank Reconciliation:
Regularly reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy of recorded transactions.
Financial Reporting:
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for property owners, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis
Budgeting:
Assist property managers in developing and monitoring operating budgets for each property.
Tenant Move-In/Move-Out Processing:
Calculate security deposit refunds, record move-in/move-out charges, and update tenant information.
Lease Administration:
Ensure compliance with lease agreements by tracking lease terms and rent adjustments.
Compliance:
Maintain accurate records and adhere to all relevant accounting and property management regulations.
Job Requirements:
Accounting Knowledge:
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits, credits, general ledger, and financial statement preparation.
Software Proficiency:
Expertise in property management accounting software (e.g., AppFolio, Buildium) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Attention to Detail:
Ability to maintain accurate financial records and identify discrepancies.
Communication Skills:
Effective communication with tenants, property managers, owners, and vendors.
Organizational Skills:
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines efficiently.
Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience bookkeeping or property management accounting.
