Director of Social Services

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct the operations of the Social Services department including the supervision and development of Social Services staff.
- Lead and manage the Social Services department, participating in performance management and corrective action when necessary.
- Participate in the interview and hiring process to ensure quality services are provided.
Organize staff education and ensure department compliance with applicable regulations.
- Provide direct clinical and evaluation services for assigned caseload, providing social work services to residents/tenants as needed, including but not limited to assisting them manage their daily lives, cope with issues and navigate relationships.
- Assist the resident/tenant in recognizing problems or concerns and develop adequate approaches to address these issues.
- Assist with discharge planning for homeward bound residents.
- Ensure documentation is maintained to comply with applicable regulations.
- Monitor residents psychosocial status; evaluate goals and initiate changes in care plan accordingly.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure adequate flow of services and to best meet the needs of residents.
- Establish and coordinate procedures with care teams to expedite direct services to clients.
- Attend various meetings as required including Director Meetings, community, resident and family counsel, etc.
- Assist with various other Social Service duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree required. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- LSW licensure required; LCSW or LICSW strongly preferred.
- Experience as a social worker in a healthcare-related setting. Experience within a nursing home or rehabilitation center is strongly preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable of the rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities.
- Strong, but comforting, communication skills with the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $83,000.00 per year
