What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at Confidential?
As the Controller, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities including the preparation of monthly financial statements, refinement of the company’s accounting and finance infrastructure, a variety of financial analyses, risk management initiatives, and various special projects.
The Controller will closely partner with the CEO to analyze the company’s financial results, develop financial projections, and provide assistance with fundraising due diligence.
Successful candidates will be results-driven, highly analytical, and detail-oriented. They should have strong business acumen and experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain environment. Responsibilities:
- Review and improve internal controls and policies to ensure conformance and compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Lead internal and external reporting requirements
- Further develop accounting and reporting procedures including daily reconciliations, monthly hard closes, and establishing and rolling forward accruals and reserves.
- Maintain and oversee accounting systems
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of related experience (experience in NVOCC/Freight Forwarding or other logistics companies preferred)
- CPA preferred but not required
- Financial services (lending) experience is strongly recommended
- Small company or start-up experience necessary with a proven track record of adding value to companies and executive team
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner
- Must be a working manager, capable of operating in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle pressure well, while being self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Flexible, strategic team player with high integrity and ethical standards
