What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at Confidential?
We are seeking adaptable Heavy Equipment Operators to join our growing team. These positions involve the operation of heavy equipment including but not limited to excavators, dozers, haul trucks, backhoes, and wheel loaders. The Equipment Operators will primarily work on project site the Lehigh Valley. A successful candidate should possess a positive attitude and at least one year of prior experience operating heavy equipment.
Essential Functions
- Operates heavy equipment with earth moving capabilities (70,000lbs minimum) in a safe and effective manner.
- Operate bulldozer and/or excavator with or without GPS technology
- Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on equipment and reports defects or needed repairs to the foreman and/or superintendent.
- Ensures compliance with company control standards and procedures.
- Perform manual labor such as digging, shoveling, assisting with placement of pipe and material or other manual labor duties as assigned.
- Proactively communicates with foreman, superintendent and coworkers.
- Promotes teamwork that increases productivity and efficiency.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Extreme weather conditions at the job sites.
- Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

- Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, sitting and climbing for extended periods of time.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work and walk on uneven terrain.
Position Type and Hours
This is a full time position, 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work vary according to job. Occasional weekend and overtime work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three years’ experience in operating heavy equipment.
- Ability to work from construction specifications and blueprints.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Degree or certificate in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field
- Two - five years’ experience in operating heavy equipment related to site development
- Valid driver’s license
