- Oversee and monitor our fleet via the logistics tracking system and track driver progress and performance
- Create or adjust routes using our dispatch system on an as-needed basis, based on business demand and drivers on shift
- Troubleshoot and assist dispatch and drivers to resolve delivery/operational issues. This includes, but not limited to setting up and mobilizing a rescue plan when needed, vehicle accidents, vehicle breakdowns, picking up customer returns, locating customer’s entrance, and locating products on the truck
- Ensure that you monitor drivers and their performance throughout the shift to fully support all drivers, ensure they perform at a top level, and make deliveries in a timely manner.
- Work with delivery drivers and the logistics team to improve in areas that they are struggling with
- Interview and hire members for the team to ensure we have a solid team and are covered at all times
- Ensure drivers follow accident protocols in the event of an accident, whether or not it involves a third party member. Obtain statement and pictures from drivers when an accident has occurred. Call and file a police report where needed and send all information pertaining to accident to our insurance company.
- Record and report any issues/information coming from the drivers as they complete deliveries (ie: delivery times/window, loading dock/entrance location, etc.);
- Collaborate with the Purchasing team to make timely pick-ups to restock our inventory.
- Collaborate with the Sales team to make timely deliveries and all other customer service
- related matters.
- Pick up customer calls and successfully help them with any logistic inquiries or concerns such as delivery arrival times.
- Deliver customer orders and pick up vendor orders as needed;
- Ensure that drivers properly return invoices, equipment (such as tablets, hand trucks, etc.) and shipping documents from their route and give them to the appropriate team for
- processing.
- Ensure drivers are clocking in and out properly and in a timely manner as they start and end their shifts at the warehouse.
- Routinely review routes with the Logistics team and Operations Director to ensure that the routes provided are the most efficient with the goal to save on cost and deliver in a timely manner;
- Provide coverage for other members of the Logistics team on an as needed basis;
- Enforce company’s operational and food safety policies and procedures.
- Refresh proper food safety and handling practices with the logistics team annually or on an as needed basis.
- Any other assignments that may be assigned by the Operations Director.
- Maintain and monitor inventory of all equipment.
- Ensure damage/lost equipment protocols are followed and kept track of using our asset tracking system.
- Oversee the entire fleet of vehicles - organize and record maintenance logs for each vehicle to ensure all vehicles are in good standing condition.
- Schedule and execute any upcoming maintenance services and vehicle inspections including taking vehicles to our mechanic’s garage for any repairs and services.
- Inspect all vehicles routinely to ensure cleanliness within the vehicle cabin and trailer, as well as the exterior.
- Ensure all vehicles have the required equipment and are functioning properly.
- Track Traffic violations accumulated by route, truck and driver and discipline those constant offenders.
- Be able to lift 50 lb boxes
Preference:
- 3-5 Years experience in dispatching in a distribution business;
- 3-5 Years experience in supervising and managing a crew of hourly drivers;
- Proven organizational, problem-solving, communication, time management, and task management skills.
