The Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the needs and preferences of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans (ISPs) that address clients' goals and daily living skills (ADLs).
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
- Provide training and support to staff on behavior management techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including hygiene, grooming, and mobility as needed.
- Ensure a clean and safe living environment for all residents by adhering to health and safety standards.
- Advocate for clients’ rights and facilitate access to community resources and services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in settings such as assisted living or senior care is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of behavior management techniques and conflict management skills.
- Ability to lift clients safely when necessary, ensuring their comfort and dignity during assistance.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- A compassionate approach towards patient care that emphasizes respect for individual differences and promotes independence.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and best practices in the field of intellectual disabilities is a plus.
