A management services company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team in Fort Collins, CO. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced atmosphere where you will be exposed to work on accounting matters for a full portfolio of businesses.
This position is in office and not eligible to work remotely.
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will supervise general accounting operations and control our financial transactions The position’s focus will include consolidated financial reporting, reconciling balance sheet accounts with emphasis on cash, maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, preparing tax analysis, and ensuring accuracy of effectiveness in the company’s accounting tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate and timely financial reports (including statement of cashflows) for senior management.
- Develop and manage consolidated financial reporting across 50 to 60 related entities.
- Manage accounting information systems, enterprise resource planning tools and the digitization of the accounting function.
- Assist with Inventory and Fixed Assets analysis and reporting.
- Assist with budgeting cash and reporting on sources of uses of cash.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Review and manage accounts payable and receivable for direct owned real estate assets.
- Support and oversee audits (both internal and external).
- Produce tax prep packages for outside CPA firms.
- Observe, document, and improve accounting procedures.
- Produce accounting desktop/standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with operating business finance teams for financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting; preference to candidates with FPM apps/tech.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Collaborate with other teams in the company, including legal, HR, IT, and real estate.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Preference will be given to candidates that have a minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience
- Preference will be given to candidates who have tax filing experience for partnerships and corporations
- 5 years' experience of accounting and financial reporting for a complex, tiered-entity structure preference to candidates from a comparable role at a family office, wealth management firm, ultra-high net worth tax group or similar organization.
- At least 3 years managing projects, employees, outside providers and contractors.
- Tax awareness with ability to consider and identify book/tax differences.
- Understanding of partnership accounting including Non-Controlling Interest and Controlling Interest reporting needs.
- Proven experience with consolidated financial statements and eliminations.
- Proven experience in general ledger and subledger journals. Must know the reason why and how (dr/cr) of intermediate accounting.
- Practical experience accounting with ERPs--preference to candidates with Netsuite experience.
- Experienced in automating beginning accounting processes such as A/R, A/P, and Treasury (Coupa, Kyriba, Tallie, Tipalti, Bill.com, HighRadius, etc)
- Good knowledge of financial accounting standards and business trends.
- Excellent MS Excel skills very high preference to candidates with MS Power BI experience or “Get Data” function in Excel.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills٫ with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated individual able to pair and contribute to a strong team.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be discreet and reliable, able to handle and protect highly confidential financial and personal information, internally and externally.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Five years or more of related experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
- 2 years of public accounting experience
- Experience with tax filings for partnerships and corporations
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Salary Range:
$80,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year.
